field recording made in 2011. slightly manipulated in 2015.
nothing deviates from the original order, and very little was removed (anything edited out was for the protection of whomever was running their mouth in that instance)
the event of the first track ("birthday jerk" -the beginning of the night) was un-staged. (indeed nothing presented here was staged)
i didn't arrive - coincidentally carrying my recorder, until at least 20 minutes into it. everything -from the activity at the stoop through the social gathering that followed, was un-planned & spontaneous. to my knowledge, all recording done after the balloon. . ."fondling",shall we call it? - was without the knowledge (or consent) of anyone else present...and even i forgot about the recorder for much of the evening, after putting it on a window sill and walking away.
fortunately it was not stolen.
...the title in no way indicates my feelings toward the birthday girl, who is not a jerk at all! it is a transitive verb -like "culture ape"; and a joke.
